"Were going to be late!" 14 year old Kendra yelled upstairs to her mom. She was headed to the sea port to board a ship for her 10 week cruise of the Greek Islands! As if it couldn't get any better her best friend Marissa was coming with her! "Hurry up!" she yelled again. "I'm comming!" her mom said. As they got into the car her mom asked her "Are you sure you'll be alright? It is your first trip alone." "Oh mom you worry to much! besides I'm with Marissa", as she said that they pulled out of the driveway and headed towards Marissa's house.

"I can't wait, this is going to be so much fun!" Marissa said as they boarded the huge ship. "I know!" replied Kendra. Marissa and Kendra had just found out that they were staying in first class cabins on the ship, they couldn't wait. They were in for 10 weeks of rest, relaxation and fun! Nothing could ruin this day Marissa thought. "Come on Marissa!" she heard her friend yell. "We have to get to our cabin or they'll give it away!" "Coming!" she yelled back. Marissa ran up the plank and boarded the ship. About ten minutes later the ship started to set sail, as Marissa and Kendra leaned over the rail to wave good-bye, Marissa saw a worried look on Kendra's mom's face. Oh...she thought all parents get nervous on their child's first trip alone and with that she turned around and headed for her cabin.

" That was one of the best nights ever!" Kendra heard her friend exclaim. "Yah!, I'm going to sleep like a log tonight." They went to their cabins and fell fast asleep. At around two A.M., Kendra awoke to the sound of running and screaming, when she put her foot down to get out of bed she felt water! When she looked down there was about two feet of water in her room, she ran outside and realized the ship was sinking and fast!.

Kendra ran into her friend Marissa's room, "Wake up!" she yelled at the top of her lungs. "huh?, what...?" Marissa replied in a groggy voice. "Hurry!, the ship is sinking!, we have to get a life boat!", Kendra dragged Marissa out of bed and down the hall to where the life boats were. By the time they got there everyone was off the ship and and there were no more life boats. "Maybe there's a raft in the storage closet." Marissa now fully awake said. As they were running along the deck a giant wave crashed and swept them into the sea.

When Kendra woke up she was on some sort of island and Marissa was beside her. "Wake up Marissa!" Kendra yelled. "Whoa! Where are we?" Marissa asked. "I think were on a deserted island." Kendra stated. "Well if thats the case we better find food and shelter." Marissa said. They spent the rest of the afternoon gathering food and building a shelter.

"Wow!" Marissa said as she looked up at the shelter they built. The shelter had five rooms all made cozy with the leaves of the palm trees. "Yah I know its wow, but what's that sound?" Kendra asked. "I don't know. Lets go check it out." Marissa said. When they finally found the source of the drums they practically screamed, but they knew they couldn't because of what they saw. "Oh my gosh a native tribe!" Marissa yelled. "Shh!" Kendra said as she put her hand over Marissa's mouth. "We've got to get off this island!" Marissa whispered. "I know, but for now just lets go back to our campsite and sleep, we will figure out how to leave this island tomorrow.

The next morning after Marissa awoke, she found a strange box that had washed up on the island. As she approached she realized that it was a life raft, she ran back into the shelter yelling "Kendra, Kendra wake up there is a life raft on the shore!" "Really? Let's go check it out then!" Kendra said. When they got to the shore they found that there was more than just a raft but there werepaddles and bags too. "Come on!" Marissa said "Lets fill these bags with provisions and start paddling!" "Okay!" Kendra replied.

After about three hours of collecting berries and coconut milk they were finally done. "Let's go we don't have any time to waste!" With that they jumped into the raft and started paddling. that night was very hard. it was raining and the waves were high. "Ugg... I hope we don't have another night like that! I didn't get any sleep!" Marissa complained. "Yah, I know!" Kendra replied "A SHIP!" Marissa screamed. She was right there was a ship. They paddled up to wards it and luckly somone saw them.

When they got home their moms were worried sick! "Oh My gosh! I'm so glad your safe Kendra!" Her mom said. "You too Marissa!" Marissa's mom said. "You were right mom. We shoudn't have gone." Kendra said. "Well the important thing is that your alright!" Kendra's mom said. "Now who wants ice cream?" "Me!" Kendra and Marissa replied at the same time. Every thing went back to the way it was and they never went on a cruise alone again.
